Common automatic door problems we repair

Most automatic door failures come from a short list of causes: worn mechanical parts, misaligned tracks or arms, failed or misadjusted sensors, damaged actuators, wiring faults and control settings that have drifted over time. A methodical diagnosis finds the actual fault instead of replacing parts by guesswork.

  • Door will not open, opens slowly or stops part-way
  • Door does not close fully or will not lock and secure the building
  • Door reverses, bounces or re-opens without a reason
  • Push-plate or touchless actuator does not trigger the operator
  • Sliding panels drag, rattle, jump the track or leave gaps
  • Grinding, clicking or motor noise during the cycle
  • Safety sensors not detecting people in the door path

How a service call works

Tell us the address, the type of door and what is happening. Photos or a short video of the door cycling help us arrive prepared. A technician inspects the operator, sensors, actuators, hardware and the door itself, then explains the findings in plain language.

Where a repair can be completed with parts on hand, we confirm before proceeding. Where parts must be ordered or the door is past economical repair, you receive a written recommendation and price so you can decide with the facts in front of you.

Safety and compliance considerations

A malfunctioning automatic door can strike someone, trap a wheelchair user or leave a building unsecured. Repairs are completed with the door safety devices, opening speeds and accessibility function in mind, and we flag any condition that should not be left in service.

Repair or replace?

Older operators can often be kept running with the right parts and adjustment. When parts are discontinued, failures are recurring or the operator no longer suits the traffic it carries, replacement is usually the better value. We give you both options when both are realistic.

Questions

Frequently asked questions

More answers on our FAQ page.

Do you repair all brands of automatic door operators?

We service common commercial operators and sensors. Share the manufacturer and model (usually on a label on the operator header) with your request so we can confirm parts availability before the visit.

How quickly can someone attend?

Scheduling depends on location, the nature of the fault and parts. Call 647-274-6544 for anything affecting building security or safe access and we will confirm the earliest available time directly.

Will you tell me the cost before repairing?

Yes. Findings and the recommended repair are explained before work proceeds. Larger repairs and replacements are quoted in writing.

Can a door that will not lock be left overnight?

A door that cannot secure the building should be reported by phone right away. If a full repair is not possible immediately, we will discuss options for making the opening secure.
