Swing operators & accessible doors

Automatic Door Operators & Accessible Door Openers

Automatic swing door operators make entrances, corridors and washrooms usable for everyone, including people using wheelchairs, walkers and carts. We install, repair and replace low-energy and full-power operators and the actuators that control them.

Low-energy vs. full-power operators

Low-energy operators open the door more slowly and with limited force, which makes them suitable for many accessible entrances, interior corridors and washrooms where the door is activated on demand. Full-power operators move the door faster and are used where traffic is heavy and continuous, with safety sensors protecting the swing path.

The right choice depends on traffic, who uses the door and how it is activated. We recommend the configuration after reviewing the opening rather than defaulting to one product.

Accessible automatic doors

Accessible openings depend on more than the operator. Actuator height and location, clear approach space, opening time and the door hardware all affect whether a person can actually get through. When we assess an opening, we review it against the barrier-free requirements that apply to your building, such as the Ontario Building Code and AODA design standards, and point out anything that needs attention.

  • Wall-mounted, bollard-mounted and wireless push-plate actuators
  • Touchless wave sensors for washrooms and infection-control areas
  • Washroom packages with occupancy indication where specified
  • Integration with electric strikes and access control

Automatic door operator repair

Operator problems usually show up as a door that hesitates, opens weakly, slams, will not hold open or does not respond to the actuator. We check power, controls, the arm or track, the actuator circuit and the door hardware to isolate the fault, then explain whether repair or replacement makes more sense.

Questions

Frequently asked questions

More answers on our FAQ page.

What is a low-energy automatic door operator?

It is an operator designed to open and close a swing door at limited speed and force, typically activated on demand by a push plate or touchless sensor. It is common at accessible entrances, corridors and washrooms.

Can an existing manual door become an automatic door?

Often, yes. The door, frame and hinges must be in good condition and power must be available. We confirm suitability during the assessment.

Do you install touchless actuators?

Yes. Touchless wave actuators are a practical option for washrooms, healthcare spaces and anywhere hand contact should be reduced.
