Signs your door closer needs attention
Many closer problems are solved with proper adjustment of closing and latching speed and spring power. A closer that is leaking oil, has a damaged arm or no longer controls the door generally needs replacement.
- Door slams or closes too quickly
- Door does not close or latch fully
- Opening force feels too heavy
- Oil leaking from the closer body
- Bent, loose or damaged arm
Why it matters for fire and barrier-free doors
Fire-rated doors must self-close and latch to maintain the fire separation, and barrier-free openings need opening forces that people can actually manage. Closer selection and adjustment balance those requirements. We flag fire-rated openings that are not closing and latching so they can be addressed promptly.
Panic bars and exit devices
Exit devices allow fast, single-motion egress while keeping doors secure from the outside. We repair and replace rim, vertical rod and mortise exit devices, address latching and alignment problems and integrate exit hardware with electric strikes and access control where needed.
Should I adjust or replace my door closer?
If the closer is not leaking and the arm is intact, adjustment often solves slamming or latching problems. A closer that leaks oil or no longer controls the door should be replaced.
Do you work on fire-rated doors?
Yes. We repair and adjust closers and hardware on fire-rated openings so they self-close and latch. Hardware replacements on rated doors must use suitably listed components.
Can you fix an exit device that will not latch?
Yes. Latching problems are usually alignment, worn components or a damaged strike. We diagnose the cause and repair or replace the device.
